Forward dating the year so that I can stare at it for awhile. :P
So I will just chuck a bunch of cool gifs and images from a Slytherin Tumblr post that I saw earlier:

Let's hear it for the badass house of cunning, water, and darkness!! The house that is seriously misunderstood, warped by recent canon and shallow people. Forces exist and have their place in the universe. And out of darkness comes life, creativity, new ideas, the fruition of a long process of thought, sleep, meditation. It's a time of strategizing and plotting, sure, but also a place for rest and contemplation. It's also a safe space for feelings and thoughts that don't always feel at home in the light or by the harsh light of the day, a place for secrets and dreams. Not everything in the dark is friendly, but neither is everything that wanders around during daylight hours.
Appreciate!

Hooray! Another Slytherin
Date: 2015-04-24 03:36 am (UTC)From:I have not logged in in weeks. I go on every so often to see what is up. They are up to HBP now and I have not even finished browsing GoF. :)
I would look forward to the updates and set aside time to peruse the new content.
They did not add much to Draco's backstory though. Boo. I wanted to know a bit more about what was running through his head during HBP etc. Just the way he is all butt hurt from day one when Harry spurns his hand is interesting. Though lots of fanfic writers have explored that.
When I went to get sorted on Pottermore, I basically was thinking, "Not Gryffindor!" Nothing against them, but it is not for me. I press ganged my family into getting sorted. XD
Re: Hooray! Another Slytherin
Date: 2015-04-24 08:20 pm (UTC)From:Yeah, but it would always be interesting to hear more about the characters from Rowling. Honestly, I could read books about the HP characters if Rowling wrote them.
I was quite the opposite. Before Pottermore was announced, I tried some of the quizzes online (You know those silly that had "What's your favourite colour" and if you chose green, then you are a Slytherin.) And I got Gryffindor every time. I really didn't think much about it but I remember not liking Slytherin then, even though Snape is one of my favourite characters. So, while I was doing the test, I knew that Rowling's sorting hat test would be different, but I was still surprised when I was sorted into Slytherin. My opinions of course changed drastically ever since and after studying the Houses closely, I realised that the sorting hat was right, I did belong in Slytherin.
I did do the test a couple of times after, because I wanted to see if I would get the same results, and I found out that there were some questions that change every time you do it.
Out of the five times I did it
(Yes, five. I know.)I was sorted into Slytherin two times, Ravenclaw two times, and one time in Hufflepuff. Disregarding that last one (because no. I'm not in Hufflepuff. Love the house. Just don't belong there.) I would consider myself more of a Slytherin because while I love learning, Slytherin was my first House and the last test I took, I was sorted into Slytherin again.I did force some of my family members to try it out and my sister who is the the closest person to me got sorted into Gryffindor. She tried it agin multiple times and every time, she got Gryffindor. Proof that Slytherin and Gryffindors can get along.
(Even though she annoys the shit out of me sometimes.)Re: Hooray! Another Slytherin
Date: 2015-04-25 05:40 am (UTC)From:I waited until it went live for everyone the following Spring(?).
Before that, every quiz I could find sorted me into Ravenclaw. I even got Ravenclaw robes one Christmas many moons ago.
When I first went on the site, it was a little wonky still. It sort of froze up and I had to start again with the questions. Apparently there is/was a glitch where you can refresh the screen finishing the questions and it will start again at the beginning! So if you don't like the questions, you can get another lot. :O I got Slytherin the first time. (I figured I would be sorted into Ravenclaw, Slytherin or Hufflepuff but more than likely one of the first two.) I was super happy with it. I liked the Welcome Letter and who doesn't want to sleep underwater.
But then I felt conflicted. Oh no! Sorting Hat Identity Crisis. Taking it again can really mess with your head (if you take this too seriously. :D;;) I always got either Ravenclaw or Slytherin. or a hatstall! I kept coming back to Slytherin though and I realized that there is no question that that is where I would be sorted by the real hat. :)
I think that I took it five or six times also. XD Mainly, it was just so pretty to look at and I got sort of addicted to taking it no matter the outcome. I gotta admit though, Ravenclaw has the second coolest common room. Hufflepuff's is neat also. The Gryffindors got kind of gipped.
When my mother took it and got Gryffindor, she looked a bit shocked. Both my parents got sorted into Gryffindor, so I like to think of myself as the Anti-Sirius Black. :D

LOL "Sorting Hat Identity Crisis" Yep, I know what you are talking about. Ravenclaw is pretty cool though. Who doesn't want to be in the smart people's House?
When my sister got Gryffindor, I looked at her like she betrayed me xD But I got over it.... eventually.
I can't believe my own sister is a Gryffindor! How can I tell my fellow Slytherins?
Slytherclaws unite! :D
Re: Hooray! Another Slytherin
Date: 2015-04-29 04:13 pm (UTC)From:I can definitely see BBC Merlin being Slytherin. He was cunning juggling all of those people and things and fiercely protective of those in his inner circle. He was good at using his hapless, dork side to hide his kick ass magician side. :)
I heard someone quip that Ravenclaw was the new Gryffindor just meaning that everyone wanted to be sorted there as it became Nerd Cool. :P I like the quirkiness aspect. But I really like the inclusiveness of the Slytherin Welcome Letter. I couldn't stand being in a more individualistic house.
Haha! Yeah. My own parents, Gryffindors! Where the heck did I come from? XDRe: Hooray! Another Slytherin
Date: 2015-04-29 06:25 pm (UTC)From:I love kick-ass Merlin. I wish he had seen more of him. Imagine the look on Arthur's face when Merlin does something so amazing and then say that it was nothing, like this was just regular everyday magic for him.
Now I want to read a fanfic about that. x)
Speaking of fanfics, I read one the other day which had Harry as a Slytherin. I know it is an overused trope but I really like the idea. I like to wonder about what could have happened if he was sorted into Slytherin.
Re: Hooray! Another Slytherin
Date: 2015-05-02 06:34 pm (UTC)From:The good ones always manage to make him quintessentially Harry while bringing out his more sneaky aspects. I mean he is. He breaks rules and is good at finding ways to sway the staff, for the greater good, of course :P.
I love that line in Book2?? where he enters Tom Riddle's flashback and he Harry reflects that is good at enough at manipulating other people to recognize a master at work. something like that. You wonder what he would have been like in a more caring household, if it would have made him more confident and thus more cheeky and perhaps even a bit spoiled. :O
I mean basically all tropes are overused, the 8th year trope, AU tropes, but there are some great fics out there which...come to think of it, I wish I had bookmarked.
Re: Hooray! Another Slytherin
Date: 2015-05-02 11:26 pm (UTC)From:And that's exactly why I love fics in which harry is in Slytherin. Especially one that is called Saving Connor. It is the first book in an epic series where Harry is the brother of the Boy Who Loved and is raised to protect and defend him. Too bad he gets into Slytherin though :P
It is absolutely amazing. The author changed so many things from canon but still managed to make everything fascinating. Book 1 is good but it is in sequel that this series really starts to shine.
I still have 3 books to go in that series. (Have I mentioned that is really long? Like realllyyy long.) but it is really worth it.
I agree that all tropes are overused, and that's probably because this fandom has been here for a long time. But even now, they are still entertaining.
